Defensive line (6)
Sebastian Joseph-Day, Austin Johnson, Morgan Fox, Christian Covington, Otito Ogbonnia, Jerry Tillery
Who’s out: Breiden Fehoko, Forrest Merrill, Andrew Brown, Joe Gaziano
I look at this and I wonder - how did Covington get ahead of Tillery? How does a rookie (Otito Ogbonnia) get ahead of the returning veterans like Fehoko, etc., before they've even tried on the pads? He's just guessing.
So, here's my guess - Sebastian Joseph-Day, Austin Johnson were brought in to be our starters to stop teams from running on us. I see Fox and Tillery as the DT's when it's an obvious passing down. Tillery was one of the starting DT's last season and now it seems he's fallen behind all the guys that were behind him a year ago - that doesn't make much sense to me. The coaches preferred him last year so why would he be behind last seasons #5,6, and 7 now?
I have Covington as number five but I'm not handing number six to Otito Ogbonnia. He has to beat out last years practice teamers to gain the spot. For now, I like Fehoko and Gaziano ahead of Otto.THE YEAR OF THE FLIP!

If we play Tillery on passing downs only, he can forget about the sham that he can defend the run. Keep him fresh and let him concentrate on being the best pass rusher he can be. He should be reassigned as an interior pass rush specialist only. There could be some value there. Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.

As for Poppers list, he has no more cred than those here for who will make the team. He is just guessing. He has one of the 6th round CBs making it but not the other. Based on what? We may see a surprise or two as we always do.Last edited by Boltjolt; 07-01-2022, 06:27 PM.

Either he can play at an NFL level, not all pro but reasonable for a backup, on any down or he’s at best on the bubble. Plus if there’s injuries be really good to not have someone who is a liability in either the run or passing game. Hard to come by, yes, but Tillery should be fighting for a roster spot, and he should only get one if he improves. Big IF.
