Guess there is always a win to spin things, this is from the Chargers website -

Since taking over as the Chargers’ general manager in 2013, Tom Telesco has made seven first-round selections. Four have been named to a Pro Bowl (Jason Verrett, Melvin Gordon, Joey Bosa, Derwin James).

The other side of that is that after this offseason we are likely to have only 4 of the 7 still on the team. Fluker, Verrett, and probably Gordon - gone!

still suspect that this isn't so much on Tom as it is on John Spanos, and.... think AL is the stick that is stirring the pot ??

what does Dean think 'bout things ?? how 'bout the brothers Spanos ?? is moving on from Loyal Lynn a prudent step in some semblance of right direction ??

they brought in the guy from Green Bay to sort out their Mike McCoy situation.... could they bring in Dorsey to sort things out w/Lynn and Telesco & Co. ??

Telesco has overstayed his welcome, his underwhelming activity in FA and for in-season trades will catch up to him. Lynn has one more chance this season, forget the contract extension he got, because that doesn't mean anything.

Spanos keeps people around longer than they deserve to be around. Fans grow weary of all the failures.

And AJ. They should have really done a new GM search after John Butler passed. Instead they took the easy route to promote the Assistant GM. He really benefited from the Eli trade in 2004 (for Philip Rivers, Nate Kaeding, and Shawne Merriman effectively). Later he lost his touch in the draft and his HC choice of Norv Turner was also flawed.

He has done better than Telesco imo. Yes he had a few headscratchers but what GM hasn't?

I remember Norv and AJ were fired together.

I wonder how many years each had on their contract when they got fired ?

I suspect the same will be done for Loyal Lynn and TT.

If another 4-12 season, both Lynn and TT could be fired.

I know Lynn has 2 more years, TT's contract is very secretive.

EDIT: I looked it up. It only says TT signed a "Multi Year" extension in 2018.

my suspicion is that Lynn was primarily a John Spanos hire, and that he (JS) is the main man when it comes to personnel and the whatnot, w/TT mostly herding the cats and overseeing things for young John ??

again personally eye do not like AL's personnel leanings, and think that he just doesn't fit the team TommyJohn energetic.

dude is a good coach and has shown he can win, just not sure he is the optimum Chargers HC.

don't know if young John would ever let Tom make a HC hire of his own, albeit do believe that the right HC for team TommyJohn is David Shaw.... who also signed an undisclosed multiyear extension w/Stanford, and.... he is familiar w/the Spanos clan and am sure a deal can be had if and ever when they might feel so inclined ??

ps. do think that someone like John Dorsey would help John Spanos w/his NFL learning curve and give him more composition to add to his AJ & others grist for the mill that he's had to date.

We have no speed on the outside, no beef in the middle of our defense, and we consistently make dumb mistakes. Teams like the Niners, Pats, Eagles, etc all make moves. We don't. Problem is, we don't fully develop our picks either . So instead of makin trade, signing marquee FA's, we let players walk.... Telesco needs to be relieved. We need bigger, stronger, faster, and more smarter players. It won't happen with him.

Telesco has been avg at best. AJ was not much better. Again, he got a boost from the Eli trade but after that the team went seriously downhill from 2009 on where his best record was 9-7. 7-9 in his last year. He also had part in canning one of our best coaches ever after a 14-2 season. You can lay part of that at the feet of the Spanii . Who does that?

And he made some awful picks even in the 1st rnd. Antoine Cason, Larry English, Craig (Buster lol) Davis, Ryan Mathews all busts . I get pissed even writing about him He should have been gone years earlier.
