Thomas gets separation despite being slow by wide receiver standards because of his smarts and route running ability. Sounds a lot like Palmer. You can find burners anywhere (someone else mentioned Travis Benjamin earlier) but I'll take production over speed any day.

IMO Palmer was drafted to be the Charger's version of the Saint's Michael Thomas, and Lombardi's fingerprints are all over this selection. Let's hope he can be half as productive. I forget what round Thomas was drafted in (4th? 5th? even later??) and the knock on him was lack of speed, but the guy is ALWAYS open - just ask Drew Brees.

Having KA as your only guy (along with your 34 year old tight end) who can run routes from the short to medium range is not good.

I thought KJ Hill was going to be something or at least our #3, maybe Palmer can take that role? We just need another big play WR who can come in and burn the D deep for a big play TD while Allen and Williams do their thing. Johnson and Guyton could do that but they have to step up their game as well.

As far as dudes getting open, a quarterback can get them open by moving the safeties.
Brees was a stud doing that. It's a huge part of any great quarterback's game.
I know Herbert isn't even in his best years yet but I see him fu**ing with those safeties already.
It got Johnson alone and wide open on more than one occasion.
Watch the tape.

On 1st downs and instances where we want to stretch the field expect to see MW and Guyton or Johnson on the outside. Our quarterback is a golden god.
