We're talking specifically about the Chargers situation and their opportunity to get a good player onto the roster - one who apparently wanted to be here, and displace a 'not so good' player in the process. Isn't that how you get better?
It's an obvious no-brainer - so why didn't it happen?

From the article:
Davis described the first four games as "a little bit shaky" for the defensive backs due to him and Jackson competing for the starting job each week.
"It was kind of just the unknown. Now that he's not here, everybody knows their own role," Davis said. "The roles are defined now, so to speak. The roles before weren't defined for anybody. There were a lot of moving parts."
Then they should shut down the Jets tonight.

I have posited this before. KVN was signed by the Chargers to play Off Ball LB. They then made a firm commitment to develop young defenders, including k9, Henley, and Rumph.
KVN ended up choosing which team he signed with--and when.
Lamar is playing very well and the Ravens are the best team in the AFC.We do not play modern football.

Don’t get too excited. It was the Jets. Pretty much the worst offense in the NFL.
Special Teams were good - Davis and Dicker were money. JK Scott was JK Scott
Defense 8 sacks, three turnovers
Offense - did enough good things but the OLine was bad and dropped passes. Herbert played smart
So a really solid game
But Sunday, Detroit, different offense, not as good of a defense. Another challenge

There’s no question the OL stinks at both pass protect and run blocking. Absolute garbage.
What’s mystifying is why Herbert holds on to the ball so long and why Moore isn’t designing a quicker release offense with slants and targets to Ekeler out of the backfield.
I’d like to see Herbert take 3 step drops and immediate release like McDaniel designed for Tua to spare him from concussions.
