What i'd expect is that the Chargers hold firm & Gordon misses a few games and then returns. Gordon doesn't want to be franchise tagged after that - maybe informally the Chargers concede in private on that matter.

Gordon isn't a top 3 back but he makes a big difference to the Chargers. Although I like the other Charger backs, their production will go way down if they get heavy minutes. Ekeler bombed out against Pittsburgh when he was the featured back. Every time when the Chargers are on on the cusp, like clockwork, something like this happens.
Yep like clockwork. It's the Charger way.

Its really about what MG III's value is to the Chargers and nothing else. He does it all for us. Blocks, catches, runs hard, good all round guy with a cute g.f. If Lynn is serious about having a balanced attack we need MG III

Giving him a mega deal is foolish imo. Trade him or just get your one year. MG is making the latter difficult.

That is only if all those underclassmen come out early which hopefully several will.

          Production in the form of
          1300 yards from scrimmage
          for three consecutive years.

          Julio Jones numbers.

          Top three triplets.

          Not you, Austin...Melvin "Flash" Gordon.

Its hard to call a guy indispensable that lost every KC game he ever played, and the only game LAC beat KC was the game he was out of.

On a side note, i will not be surprised if JJ gets more of the 1st and 2nd down load than Ekeler. From what I've seen - Ekeler is better as a 3rd down specialist guy than every down bell cow. Someone above noted he got the snot knocked out of him vs Steelers.

Yep...this year's TC and preseason will be interesting...MG3 sitting around at home, chomping at the bit, while Jackson, Ekkie, Detrez and Cox get a ton of reps with the first string...too bad, Mel...that was your choice...(I'm sure, also he was egged on by his dual agents, Bilbo and Golum--looking forward to "my precious" payday percentage)...

Let's get rid of Rivers then. He's never beaten a Brady lead Pats team

Ask yourself how many PR type number players are out there and how may MG type number players are out there. He is not worth the money he wants. Period.....end of story.....

And MG has? Let's not get carried away. PR is 100x more valuable to the team than MG. Not discounting MG's contributions, he does fight hard for yards and the score, but to want top RB-type money when you've really only been a top 10 ONE time?

                          Agree 100%.

don't get me wrong. MGIII is a good back, has gotten better and is coming off his best year. He is nowhere close to being worth 13-15MM though IMO. There is not a RB in the NFL i would pay 13-15MM for though (maybe unless they came out as a jr, were not a first rd pick, lit the league on fire, would be no older than 28 when the second deal expired or had a manageable out AND i had a qb on a rookie deal preferably drafted outside the top 5 whose possible extension came.when rb deal expired). In other words either my qb or my starting rb have to be on a rookie deal (both is ideal).
