Daniel Popper was asked on his Q&A about Rivers returning next year if the team finishes in the bottom 10 and said he believes there is a 98% chance he is back, for whatever that is worth.

I just don't get it. Rivers is old, not very athletic, not very accurate, never been to a SB let alone win one. The last time the Rivers era Chargers won the Division was with LT. The AFC West now belongs to Reid and Mahomes, and Gruden and Carr. The Bolts can't even beat a winless Broncos team. As long as 17 is under center, this team will be in SB purgatory. Rivers should not be immune to benching at this point, especially after that last performance. If the KC game turns into a rout, then put in Stick. If winning a game becomes unreachable, then at least take a look at your 5th round pick. If Rivers loses to KC and Denver again, then throw the damn towel and let Stick start against JAX. If salvaging a season becomes unreachable, then at least take a look at your young QB before spending a 1st on a QB like Herbert. Chargers need that 1st to address the O-line with someone like Tyler Biadasz. I guarantee the red zone offense wouldn't be any worse with Stick in.

 Gruden and Carr? WTF have they done?

I'd say finish a season out of the cellar for a change to think they own anything.

And why do we owe our 5th round rookie a look see? What HC would do that?

Just don't understand what some of you see in Stick. No way he plays over Tyrod even if Rivers gets hurt

Bengals benched Dalton and are giving Finley a shot before likely drafting Joe Burrow. Tyrod is insurance. He's not your future franchise QB. Stick is the unknown. This isn't a hard concept to grasp. You spent the draft pick. If your season is done, and your old franchise QB is throwing incompletions and picks, you see what you have in your rookie.

Dalton has always been a mediocre QB. Finley is playing because they havent won a game and Dalton is surely on the chop block. They will probably draft another QB. Not to mention they are a shit franchise. They should have fired Marvin Lewis five years ago.

Not sure if this means anything but Rivers has not appeared at the podium on Chargers.com since prior to the Oakland game.

His mistake at the end of the game was mental. Nothing to do with age or athleticism.

His accuracy is fine. 66% completion rate. Why is it that all those who want Rivers gone distort the facts?

Every game has been winnable. And Rivers has a habit of getting hot late in the season.
They need to finish 5-1 to have a shot a postseason.
Rivers needs to be a little better, especially late game decisions. The rest of team also needs to be better too. Just a bit better execution and they will get on a winning streak with Rivers.

Having said that. They still need to go get Joe Burrow next draft. Trade up and pick him. They need to be ready for the future.
If the Bolts tank the rest of the season, and are drafting around #7 overall, the odds of trading up and getting Burrow are about 3-1. If they DON'T tank, and finish somewhere around the middle of the pack, now your odds are 100-1...

Agree. Let's find out now what we have in Stick. Who knows? Maybe he rallies the troops for a few wins, and shows some real upside...but we'll never know unless we give the dude some reps...

I wonder if coach Lynn had Rivers practice under the lights before gameday. Wasn't this his first night game of the season? Maybe his 38 year old eyes needed that.
